A native of New Orleans, Dr. Billings has lived in Alabama since 1992 when he enrolled at Auburn University. He earned a BS in Microbiology at Auburn, graduating cum laude in 1996. He attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, graduating in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he completed a three year internship and residency in internal medicine at the Baptist Hospitals in Birmingham, followed by a three year fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, which he completed in June 2006.
Dr. Billings is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. In addition to caring for all disorders of the gastrointestinal system, Dr. Billings performs a novel technique in gastroenterology called endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), which allows for detailed imaging using an ultrasound probe on the tip of an endoscope.
Dr. Billings joined Center for Colon & Digestive Disease in July 2006.
Dr. Billings is married and has three sons. His outside interests include backpacking, fishing, sports, history, and just about anything outdoors.
