Dr. Ferrante was born on January 4, 1968 in Trenton, Michigan. He received a 4-year athletic scholarship for NCAA division I hockey to the University of Alabama – Huntsville, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1991. He was also two-year hockey captain and was elected student-athlete of the year. He went on to attend medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated in 1995. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Alabama Hospital in 1998, followed by a fellowship at UAB Hospital.
Dr. Ferrante is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. Professional memberships include: American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Ferrante joined Center for Colon & Digestive Disease in July 2001.
He is married to Kathleen Richards Ferrante. They have two children: Dominic who was born in September of 1997, and Luke who was born in September of 2000. Dr. Ferrante enjoys spending time with his family, sports, cooking, landscaping, and home improvement.
